    About Daryck Dupree Jr.

A legacy rooted in faith, family, and the power of music.

Born in Washington DC, into a family where rhythm was a language of its own, Daryck Dupree Jr., also known as Mario, grew up surrounded by the sounds that would later shape his creative identity. His musical journey began at an early age, praising God alongside his family as they sang throughout the DMV and beyond. Even then, his passion was evident captured in a Washington Post feature where a young Daryck caught the eye of a photographer while performing on stage with his family.

At the age of 13, Daryck’s love for music deepened when he began guitar lessons. Exposure to a wide range of genres soon followed, allowing him to explore and develop a distinctive style of musicianship. Eager to step into his own, he transitioned from singing on the front line with his family group to becoming the lead guitarist a pivotal moment that would shape the next chapter of his life.

Daryck went on to express his musical gifts in churches, choirs, quartet groups, and secular settings, seamlessly exchanging melodies across genres that resonated with audiences and fellow musicians alike. Closely guided by his mother and driven by a desire to share the lyrics and melodies forming in his spirit, he began recording music from his home studio. His goal was to create a new sound for the next family project. However, the unexpected passing of his mother, along with his musician uncles, brought that dream to a sudden pause.

Through prayer, reflection, and encouragement from those around him, Daryck has since found peace and a renewed passion for music. He serves at New Vision Church in Bowie, Maryland. Today, his greatest desire is to restore the dream reuniting his family, honoring their shared legacy, and continuing the musical foundation that has defined his life’s story.
